Contribute to Lorena’s voting process by sharing a review after their article below.

The National Alliance for Hispanic Families is focused on promoting strategies that strengthen Hispanic Families and to harness public and private resources to promote comprehensive programs, relevant research and targeted policies that build families where children and youth flourish while adults learn the skills to function effectively in today’s challenging environment.
“America’s future is dependent upon the education of all children. The ever growing Hispanic population will play a critical role in the growth of our country,“ shares Dr. Gonzalez.
Education and Leadership champion, Dr. Lorena G. Gonzalez is at the forefront of a new leadership philosophy that is inclusive and transformational. A testament to the diversity and achievement in America, Lorena has already impacted communities around the country.
Familisimo
Every family holds a personal and powerful story. Triumph or failure within the home impacts the individuals who live there, their community, and the society they help build. Hispanics have a rich tradition of strong families reaching far beyond the simple structure of parents and their children. Among Latinos, aunts and uncles, cousins and grandparents all are vital parts of “familisimo.”
And so we share the inspiring stories of families -- their challenges and struggles, their triumphs and successes.
Town hall meetings sponsored by NAHF are underway throughout the country with broad participation from community leaders, elected officials, organizations, and parents interested in helping Hispanics build strong families and communities.
In San Antonio, the town hall meeting held August 30 was attended by a standing-room-only crowd at the University of Texas SA, along with elected officials including San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro, U.S. Rep. Ciro Rodriguez, State Senator Carlos Uresti (District 19), and State Reps. Trey Martinez Fisher (District 116) and Michael Villarreal (District 123). Former mayor Henry Cisneros also attended, in addition to federal regulators including Frank Fuentes, HHS senior advisory, Administration on Children and Families.
“Our goal in coming together is to join our voices and pledge our support in a singular effort by creating a solid platform on which to speak,” said Robert Erbrick, chairman of the board for AVANCE, co-host of the event. “This platform will bring the resources needed to provide unique research, and help alleviate issues of poverty, education, health care and so much more.”
Dr. Lorena Gonzalez, NAHF director, said these town hall meetings are bringing hundreds of people together throughout the country, "creating a voice that will represent our country, our families.”

Dr. Lorena Garza Gonzalez has been a wonderful and very inspirational person for the Latino Community at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. I first met Mrs. Gonzalez at the Midwest Regional Hispanic Conference in Chicago during the fall of 2008. Mrs. Gonzalez was the keynote speaker at the Chicago conference. Mrs. Gonzalez is a very wonderful person and is very personal. Ever since I met her in fall of 2008, we have remained in contact. She will occasionally check up on my studies and grades and has been an important role model and someone I look up to dearly.

She has the unique ability to reach into their hearts and relate to their realities, dreams, frustrations and hopes like few I've seen. Our jovenes see themselves in her, and her accomplishments and achievements become all the more tangible and within reach for them. She is a tireless advocate and source of eternal inspiration for so many of us.

Dr. Lorena Garza Gonzalez, is the epitome of servant leadership. She lives her life by example, and not many can say they do this. Though I have many great friends, Lorena is one of my favorites that I love being around because she is real and possesses positive energy that is infectious. When I have witnessed the reaction of audiences she presents to about "image" it is phenomenal to see how empowered they look with smiles when they are exiting the workshop room, and excited about how they interpreted her points as she has ignited them to think about this. That has been special. It has been moments like this, that have forever engraved in my heart my impression of my good friend Lorena, whom I have the utmost respect and love for.

Since meeting Dr. Gonzalez I was completely inspired by her. She is someone who is passionate and caring about anything she sets her mind to. She is a prime example that hard work does pay off and that if I set my mind to it I can pretty much do anything I want. I would love to have an impact on Latinos, especially women, in the same way that she does because she has had an impact on me that I can never thank enough for. I hope that one day I can make my parents and family as proud of me as her parents and children are of her. I am blessed to know her and to be able to call her my sister and friend.

Dr. Gonzalez has been an inspiration in my life for over 7 years. I have had the honor to learn from her what it means to be a servant leader. Dr. Gonzalez and I once traveled into the mountains of Washington State where she addressed hundreds of families. It was her first keynote presentation after receiving her Ph.D. It was very touching because she dedicated the presentation to her parents and the hard work they endured so she could pursue her dreams! Dr. Gonzalez is a role model for so many! She has become extremely successful but has remembered the many individuals that helped her along the way! Dr. Gonzalez has my Vote! Thank you for inspiring me. Today I can proudly say she has helped me in my journey from being a homeless teenager to a college graduate and business owner. It is because of individuals such as Dr. Gonzalez that young people like me can keep dreaming and succeed!

The nation could not find a better person to represent our future than Dr. Gonzalez. Dr. Gonzalez not only cares about ALL of our children's sucess, but she is also a living example of getting it done! You don't accidently become a Dr. when your parents don't even understand how higher education works in this country. Dr. Gonzalez speaks from her desire to see our children and their families succeed, but she also speaks from a place of familiarity as she was once that child she is now addressing. Having passion is one thing, but understanding the educational system, the data, and all of the research related to educational success is another. Dr. Gonzalez possess these, and all of the tools required to succeed on her mission to help better this country via education. I'm happy, and honored, to be one of her many friends that is willing to support her efforts in any manner possible. This nation, and I, are appreciative to have such a magnificent servant leader in charge of such a monumental task! I have no doubt she will be successful just as she has been with everything else in her life!

It is a sincere privilege to call Lorena my friend and colleague. Our nation is in desperate need of people like her that not only understand servant leadership from a theoretical perspective, but more importantly, embody it. Lorena intuitively understands and taps into the reality that the Latino family, indeed all families who must endure great hardship, employs many of the answers so desperately sought by our nation; endurance, perseverance, creativity, loyalty to core American values, pragmatism and compassion. Lorena has been able to achieve great things for and with our people, and for many marginalized groups, but has never forgotten her roots and the fact that it is a privilege to serve as she does. This is a rare and quite valuable constellation of talents and developmental insights. She has my complete support.

My aunt Dr. Lorena Gonzalez has become one of the first within the Garza family who received a PH.D to my knowledge. The work that she is doing to give back to the Mexican community is the best way to give back to her community and her family. Dr. Gonzalez has also become a role model and an inspiration to the younger members of the Garza family. She has shown through her actions that even though a person may come from very humble means anything is possible and worth working for.

I met Dr. Gonzalez in Washington this past June and had several conversations with her and assisted Ms. Gonzalez on a project in Texas. I see her as a woman full of grace, honor, sincerity, and full of hope for the lives of families across America. As a Father of a murdered child I found much comfort sharing with Ms. Gonzalez the sadness I was feeling one day the past July. Her tears and words of comfort left a great impression on me and gave me strength for that day. I will never forget that. Dr. Gonzalez is a real leader, genuine, and ready to lead.

Dr. Lorena Gonzalez is "Living a Legacy" through her passionate work in support of humanity. I consider myself blessed to know her, work alongside with her, and witness the transformation of families from feeling hopeless to being inspired. Lorena during our early days of traveling the country helping communities saw a great need for a comprehensive program that would serve as a framework for Leadership development in Families. She stepped up to the plate and planted the first seeds of what is today a very successful curriculum - The Family Leadership Institute. On personal level, it is not easy to find a friend that you can bear your soul and simply allows you to be heard. Lorena has been that friend and so much more for over 15 years. - a true gift to me. Sincerely, Consuelo

Never before has our nation had a greater need of role models for latinos and latinas youth across every state and city in the U.S.!! Dr. Lorena Gonzalez has been able to accomplish the American dream by achieving her Ph.D. Overcoming the varied and multiple challenges that face every latino family she models all the qualities it takes to be successful. The most beautiful quality of Dr. Gonzalez is the fact that she has never lost the identity that makes her the incredible human being she is. And to kick it up one more notch, she has dedicated herself to bring others into the arena of success. My vote and well wishes go with you Dr. Gonzalez. Felicidades!!!

I've gotten to know Dr. Lorena Gonzalez on a business level as I helped her run for School Board in the the Northside ISD in San Antonio. I saw such commitment during the entire process. I also saw her trust in her community and in the youth, as majority of the individuals running her campaign were young professionals. We learned so much from her and she always valued our opinion and often mentioned how much she learned from us. I LOVED the experience of working with her! On the flip side...I've gotten to know Lorena Gonzalez on a very personal/family level, as she is the mother of my best friend. I love spending time with the Gonzalez family and Lorena is definitely a strong figure in her family. I love seeing her interact with her family and feel so comfortable with them that often feel that I'm a part of their family. They are so welcoming and I know that Dr. Gonzalez and Mr. Gonzalez have done a great job in instilling strong family values in their 3 children. It would be crazy not to award Dr. Gonzalez
