Annette Ortiz :: San Antonio Ladies Ethnics Group Founder

Contribute to Annette’s voting process by sharing a review after her article below.

San Antonio Ladies Ethnic Group (SALEG) is a blossoming family of diverse women with many flavors and backgrounds founded on the principle that women of diverse backgrounds have much in common and can therefore network collaboratively and cooperatively for each member’s emotional, social, physical, and cognitive development.

The efficacy of the value of our principal purpose is reflected in how quickly our organization has grown. Having started with only five members, within one year and presently has over 1000 fans, 100 members and over 4000 in networking connections.

Our membership profile mirrors diversity from the perspective of ethnicity both inter and intra-group. The word Ethnic in our organization comes from our tradition of visiting different “ethnic” restaurants, the first Saturday of every month. Again we only had a handful and now thanks to women like you we have grown to a number we would have never imagined.

Through SALEG, each member has met new friends, acquired valuable acquaintances, and gained insight into a variety of issues related to women. The fun we have, the memories we are making-- it's a true blessing!

Our vision of women socializing and working together to meet the unique challenges that are thrust upon us, because we are women, is expansive. We are working on bigger things to come.

I love this organization of women who are so wonderful in helping the community in so many ways. As my daughter in law said to me, "These women get me." Yes, they are very empowering!

In the beginning it was for friendship and to be see what we had bcome after highschool, now we are empowering women all over. I am a proud member of SALEG. I sing your praises everywhere Annette & Hilda, what a powerful team you two have become. After driving the 3 cars loads full of clothing to Annette's for the Battered Children & Women's Shelter, I got home and thought of how lucky we are to have you- One person can make a difference, but A group of women can move a mountain...Let's do it.
Angels are everywhere, all you have to do is open your heart to see them.

Annette and Hilda started this group with the image of support and unity in women of all colors and cultural backgrounds and have diversified the meaning of the SALEG organization to be one of genorisity and care for everyone who is part of the race - THE HUMAN RACE that is! Cheers to them and to all the other ladies who are part of the organization - because with their support and everyone else who assists with donations, contributions, and participation, this organization will continue to thrive and make a positive impact on the citizens of the city.

God Bless You and good luck in all future endeavors.

I believe Annette should be nominated, because, she has started this group a little over a year ago and I have seen it grow! She is has walked for the Wounded Warrior group and raised money for them. This group has also begun to collect dress clothing for abused women who would like to get back into the workforce, but, do not have enough money to buy dress clothing for interviews or the work place. I feel Annette Ortiz is working towards growing and helping as many people as she and her group can. She has a positive attitude and I can see her going places!

I want to thank SALEG, Annette and all those who are helping with this event and this cause. I once was a Battered Woman and wish I knew of these or had these organizations to go to for help. So if you want to give to a Great cause please donate @ the above locations. You have no clue just how much giving just alittle can be so much to someone else. Once again Thank You!!
